Small Face

Mutual friends

Added 02 February 2010

The question of whether journalists actually need PR people is an age-old one that re-emerges from time to time.  I’ve been in the PR industry for a few years, and on the whole my experience of working with journalists has been a positive one. No journalist has questioned my professional relevance (yet!), and I believe the relationship between the two professions is mutually beneficial. This was underscored last week when I worked with the deputy editor of a leading business publication to set up an entrepreneurs’ round-table. There was mutual respect and understanding about the contributions each of us brought to the table (literally) to ensure i) the event happened and ii) it had a successful outcome. There was a real sense of positive collaboration which I hope is repeated the industry over – putting the question of our industry’s relevance to bed once and for all.
