At Six Degrees we have technology people who have chosen to work in PR and marcoms, and not the other way around. To us, high-tech doesn’t just mean computer hardware and software. We cover a very broad range of technologies, and a very wide range of industrial and commercial market sectors where those technologies can be applied. Only by immersing ourselves in the technology concerned – reading, listening and thinking about them and, wherever possible, working with them – can we truly develop an understanding of our technology clients’ markets and their needs. And only then can we apply the PR and marketing skills that add our particular value – communicating with clarity and authority, whatever the audience. Whether the end-user of technology is a businessperson or a consumer, it is our job to understand the technologies so well that we can explain and promote them to people who aren't already familiar with them – and identify the characteristics that make our clients' contributions so special. This can often mean promoting technologies and concepts in an educational way, before they are officially launched. In short, our role is to bring the technologies down to earth and out to the markets.
