The Six Degrees quiz team continued its unbeaten run by triumphing in the new annual quiz organised by the CIPR's Science Engineering & Technology (SET) sector group. In a tense event held in May at the Strand Palace Hotel, London and themed around 'the four elements' (earth, fire, wind and water) the six-strong team held off strong competition to win by the narrowest of margins. As ever, the team's obsessional knowledge of film and music paid off in the joker round (double points), and helped to make up for a disappointing showing when quizzed about shipping forecast zones and the parts of a boat. But the clincher was probably John Lardge's impressively detailed knowledge of the senior ranks in the armed forces. The joy at receiving a stunning trophy donated by Rolls-Royce was tempered by the news that as the winners we now have the honour of organising next year's quiz! |
