Six Degrees has been appointed by Brunel University spin-out company, LifeLab Innovations, to promote a revolutionary new respiratory protection device to the sports and health media.

PUREbreathe® is designed for urban exercisers, like runners, cyclists and triathletes, training or competing in demanding environmental conditions or highly polluted areas, to help filter particulate air pollution, dust and pollen.

The Six Degrees team will target running, cycling and fitness publications, as well as sports and health editors, to highlight the device’s unique design – an air-tight mouthpiece with very low resistance to air flow – which overcomes the limitations of typical mask-based devices.

Professor Alison McConnell, sports scientist and respiratory specialist at Brunel University and the inventor of PUREbreathe, says. “We want the PR campaign to highlight that PUREbreathe is not just for elite athletes, but ideal for enthusiasts and those of us who cycle or run to work, or people with physically active outdoor occupations that regularly expose them to pollution and dust.”

The campaign, which runs over the next four months, will also be aimed at potential sports licensees who can take the PUREbreathe device to market.

The Six Degrees team includes company director, Amanda Hassall, alongside ex-Reuters and AP journalist, Stephen Rowe and consultant, Jennifer Andersson. “This is a very exciting and timely campaign, with so much media focus on major sporting events and on environmental and pollution-related issues,” explains Amanda Hassall. “We are expecting a lot of interest in PUREbreathe.”
